Other Visions of Echo Park Development
I’m an Echo Park resident (since 1979) who knows Morton Avenue well.
Alice Chang is a lovely person who has some wonderful intentions and fully believes that her end justifies her means. However, when one is single-minded and single-issue oriented, good intentions are not enough; as the poet says, they only lead down the primrose path to the ev’rlasting bonfire.
The Los Angeles Planning Commission exists to prevent a solitary property owner, in pursuit of his own blinkered vision, from destroying other residents’ visions of their community.
I hope that 78 is not too old to learn the art of compromise because I both want Mrs. Chang to house the elderly and also I want the residents of Morton Avenue to have a compatible neighbor.
