Huntington Beach junior Tony Gonzalez figures to be one of the county’s biggest recruits in both football and basketball next season. Gonzalez, 6 feet 5 and 220 pounds, is a tight end and outside linebacker in football, and is averaging 17 points and 8.4 rebounds for the Oilers’ basketball team.

“I’ve had every Pac 10 school come through and look at films of him,” Huntington Beach football coach George Pascoe said. “Most schools are looking at him as an outside linebacker.”
