Charles J. Futterman, 82, an attorney and supermarket industry leader whose 18 Shoppers Markets and accompanying drug and junior department stores merged with Lucky Stores in 1969. For years after the merger he served on the Lucky board of directors while serving as chairman of the board of the Food Employers Council. He also had been president of the Western Assn. of Food Chains, vice president of the National Assn. of Food Chains and a founder-director of the Blue Chip Stamp Co. He was active in such charities as the United Jewish Welfare Fund and was head of the Institute for Cancer and Blood Research. In Beverly Hills on Feb. 18 of cancer.
