* * 1/2 Masters of Reality, “Sunrise on the Sufferbus,” Chrysalis. This sounds like an attempt to write a fictitious chapter in Brit-rock history. What if Cream had soldiered on sans Eric Clapton, recruiting Jimmy Page in his stead? Singer-guitarist Chris Goss does a decent impression of Page’s riffing and Jack Bruce’s bluesy, sweet-tart tenor, while Ginger Baker does Ginger Baker with aplomb. Uneven material mars the re-creation.
New albums are rated on a scale of one star (poor) to four (excellent).
