In Big West Conference women’s basketball:
Pacific 90, UC Irvine 73--UC Irvine led Pacific by four points with just over 10 minutes to play Saturday, but the Tigers used a 14-0 run to pull away at Stockton.
Pacific (17-7, 10-6) was led by point guard Tine Freil’s 26 points and 13 assists. Natasha MacAtee added 19 points and Lainie Bebber had 16. The Tigers made 70% of their shots.
Irvine (2-22, 1-15) got good performances from two freshman starters. Center Allah-mi Basheer scored 11 points, and Davette Williams scored 10. The Anteaters were led by Yvonne Catala’s 21 points.
In another Big West Conference game:
San Jose State 85, Cal State Fullerton 68--Allison Jackson had 23 points for Cal State Fullerton. Faye Hagan added 14 points and Shayla Bradshaw had 13 points for the Titans.
In California Collegiate Athletic Association women’s basketball:
Cal State San Bernardino 71, Chapman 59--Melody Earle had 16 points and Heidi Sorour added 12 points for Chapman (2-23, 0-12).
In California Collegiate Atletic Association men’s basketball:
Cal State Dominguez Hills 70, Chapman 62--Jeff Gardner had 19 points and Glen Greene had 11 points for Chapman (11-14, 4-10).
In nonconference baseball:
Chapman 5, Gonzaga 2--Corey Giuliano (3-0) pitched a three-hitter and struck out four for Chapman (7-7) at Hart Park in Orange. Chris Briones had a two-run homer in the first and a sacrifice fly in the sixth for Chapman.
Christ College Irvine 6, Biola 4 (11)--Mike Crumrine hit a two-run homer in the top of the 11th inning and Christ College Irvine (4-3-1) held on for the victory.
In Big West Conference softball:
Cal State Fullerton 3-5, Pacific 2-0--Tiffany Boyd scattered four hits and struck out four in pitching a shut out and Denise Dewalt had three hits in the nightcap for Cal State Fullerton.
In men’s track and field:
UC Santa Barbara 111, UC Irvine 46, Cal State Fullerton 39--Greg Thewes won a heat in the 200 and was a member of the winning 1,600 relay for Cal State Fullerton.
In women’s track and field:
UC Santa Barbara 78, UC Irvine 69, Cal State Fullerton 19--Andrea Dean and Pam Kurtela were double winners for UC Irvine.
