L.A. ‘Twilight’: Anna Deavere Smith’s solo performance piece about last spring’s riots will be titled “Twilight’s Last Gleaming: Los Angeles, 1992” and will open at the Mark Taper Forum on June 3. Commissioned by the Taper, Deavere has been interviewing political officials, Korean grocers, gang members, students and others on and off for the past year as preparation for her performance piece here, which will run through July 18. Deavere, an associate professor of drama at Stanford University, created “Fires in the Mirror: Crown Heights, Brooklyn and Other Identities” for the New York Public Theatre last year.
