Saddleback Wins Conference Golf Title

Saddleback won the Orange Empire Conference golf title by 32 strokes at the 36-hole conference meet Monday at Singing Hills Country Club in El Cajon.

Scott Richardson, the conference player of the year, was the medalist. He shot a two-under 70 in the morning round, then came back with a 69 for a five-under 139. It was the 11th conference title in 13 years for Saddleback and Coach Bill Cunerty.

Also for Saddleback: Jason McDaniel (69-76) shot 145, Art Hess shot (76-75) 151, Justin Boatman shot (74-78) 152, and Colin McElderry shot (78-77) 155. Saddleback won with a 740 total, Palomar and San Diego Mesa tied for second at 772, Orange Coast (791) was fourth and Rancho Santiago (804) fifth.
