Piergiuseppe Beretta, 86, president of Beretta gun-manufacturing firm, one of the world’s oldest gun makers. The family firm began in 1526, and the Beretta became the official weapon of the Italian police and armed forces and is widely used in the United States. The gun became world famous when British writer Ian Fleming selected it as the weapon used by his fictitious secret agent 007, James Bond, in his Cold War thrillers.
