Azerbaijan Will Restart Talks With Foreign Oil Companies: The negotiations will continue over a proposed joint venture between Azerbaijan’s state oil company and six foreign oil firms to develop three large oil fields in the Caspian Sea, a government official said. The discussions had been suspended during an internal political crisis in recent weeks. “The talks with the consortium will continue for two or three months,” said Rasul Guliyev, Azerbaijan’s first deputy prime minister. The consortium includes Los Angeles-based Unocal Corp., British Petroleum, Amoco Corp., Pennzoil Co., McDermott International Inc. and Turkish Petroleum Corp.
