IRVINE : Young Readers to Receive Awards

Children who took part in a summer book-a-thon program will be honored at a ceremony Sept. 18 at Walnut Village Center.
Mayor Michael Ward will present awards to students who improved their reading skills over the summer by taking part in the program, which is designed to promote literacy and encourage children to read.
About 600 Irvine children took part in the book-a-thon this summer.
Walnut Village Center is at Culver Drive and Walnut.
