Murdoch Abandons Post: Rupert Murdoch’s company announced that it is dropping its effort to buy the New York Post after editors, reporters and business employees went on strike. The announcement came after other unions at the tabloid decided to honor the Newspaper Guild’s picket line. The Guild was the only union not to settle on a contract with Murdoch, who had offered to take the paper out of bankruptcy court in exchange for concessions.
