PREP TENNIS ROUNDUP : Brea-Olinda Edges Savanna in League Opener

Brea-Olinda tied Savanna, 9-9, in sets but won on games, 77-75, in the Orange League girls’ tennis opener for both teams Tuesday at Brea.
Rachel Buenviaje swept, 6-3, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 1 singles and Elizabeth Kozma and Beth St. Clair swept in doubles, 6-1, 6-1, 6-2, for Brea-Olinda (7-3, 1-0).
In another Orange League match:
Valencia 13, Western 5--Jenny Gonzalez won, 6-1, 6-0, 6-0, for visiting Valencia (7-2, 1-0).
In the Empire League:
Katella 13, Cypress 5--Patty Villaroman won, 6-2, 6-1, 6-0, for Katella (3-5, 1-0). Cypress is 7-1, 0-1.
In the Sea View League:
Woodbridge 10, Irvine 8--Woodbridge (7-2, 3-1) was led by their doubles teams, which won seven of nine sets.
Irvine’s Sarah Denson swept her sets, 6-4, 6-0, 6-1.
Newport Harbor 15, Santa Margarita 3--Sarah Hawkins and Mara Colaizzi lost only three games as they swept their singles matches for Newport Harbor (7-0, 4-0).
Corona del Mar 17, Saddleback 1--Corona del Mar pushed its Sea View League record to 4-0 by winning at Saddleback. Junior Heather Nelson, playing singles for the first time this year, won, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0.
University 18, Tustin 0--Jayne Nichols and Shannon Wilkins each swept, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, and Jamie Frieden won, 6-1, 6-0, 6-0, for host University (5-4, 2-2).
In the Sunset League:
Rosary 13, Huntington Beach 5--Rosary (5-4, 3-1) was led by its singles players, who swept their sets. Leading the group was freshman Eleanor Luzano, who won, 6-0, 6-0, 6-1, to push her Sunset League record to 12-0 and her overall record to 25-2.
Marina 13, Fountain Valley 5--Holly Meyers swept her sets, 6-0, 6-1, 6-0, to remain undefeated in league for visiting Marina (4-3, 4-0).
