DoHoang (Tini) Duong has joined the staff of Assemblyman Tom Umberg (D-Garden Grove), where she will be a field representative focusing primarily on concerns in the expanding Asian-American communities.
Duong, 23, will visit Asian-American neighborhoods to find out how Umberg can provide assistance, a spokesman said. She also is expected to pinpoint major issues facing the Asian-American residents for possible legislative action in Sacramento.
Duong, a resident of Newport Beach, also will monitor business, transportation, housing, environmental, youth and higher education issues for Umberg.
She recently graduated from UC Berkeley, where she received a degree in history and English literature.
She was previously employed in Washington at the National Criminal Justice Assn.
Duong is the daughter of Nhu Hao Tran Duong, refugee coordinator for the county, and Dong Thien Duong, a doctor.
