Officials at Clinica Nueva Esperanza, a community mental health clinic, are seeking nominations for an award to honor a person striving to improve the welfare of minorities and the underprivileged.
Nominations for the Hector Godinez Award, named for one of the clinic’s founding directors, must be received by Sunday, said spokeswoman Tess Brasser.
Nominees must be residents of the county and have made a significant contribution locally to the welfare of minorities or underprivileged. Nominations must include a biographical sketch, no longer than two typewritten pages, describing how the person meets the requirements for the award, she said.
Nominations should be submitted to: Hector Godinez Award Committee, 26861 Trabuco Road, No. E333, Mission Viejo, Calif. 92691.
The award will be presented during a fund-raising luncheon for the clinic on Nov. 11. The luncheon will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the Radisson Plaza Hotel, Crystal Ballroom, 18800 MacArthur Blvd., Irvine. Santa Ana City Councilman Miguel A. Pulido Jr. will deliver the keynote speech, she said.
An auction of donated items, including portraits of John Wayne and dinners from Planet Hollywood, will follow the luncheon. The event is co-sponsored by the Radisson Plaza Hotel and the $50 tickets must be reserved and paid for by Saturday.
For more information, contact Brasser at (714) 454-3195 or fax (714) 458-7557.
