Chapman Wins Season Finale in Soccer
Chapman scored four second-half goals to beat Cal Poly Pomona, 4-0, in nonconference men’s soccer Wednesday at Chapman.
Fernando Loza, Kevin Esparza, Josh Parrett and Dustin Kemmerer each scored a goal and Armando Orizaba had two assists for the Panthers (13-4-3), who completed their first winning season since 1985. It was the best record since 1982 when the Panthers were 16-5-5.
Goalkeeper Craig Bennett had three saves in his eighth shutout of the season.
In nonconference women’s soccer:
Cal State Fullerton 2, USC 2--Dana Marioti and Jennifer Patterson each scored a goal as Fullerton finished its first season with a 2-14-2 record.
In the Intercollegiate Tennis Assn. Southern California Championships:
Irvine team loses--Chong Cho and Lev Shvarts of UCLA beat Julian Foxon and Cameran Lindee of UC Irvine, 6-4, 6-3, in the first round of qualifying doubles at Irvine. The first round of the main draw starts at 8 a.m. today.
