A 31-year-old karate instructor has been sentenced to two years in prison after pleading guilty to 12 counts of felony child molestation in a case involving a 15-year-old girl, authorities said Tuesday.
Maurice Lamont Jones of San Clemente was given the sentence Monday by Orange County Superior Court Judge Michael Brenner, said Sheriff’s Lt. Dan Martini.
Jones was arrested Aug. 26 at the South Orange County Probation Department in Laguna Niguel after a weeklong investigation. He was already on probation for a similar crime in San Diego, Martini said.
The incidents began in 1992 when the girl was 13 and continued until July, 1993. The girl is a relative of Jones’ then-roommate and was not one of his students. He taught karate classes in Dana Point and dance classes in Laguna Niguel, Martini said.
