Before this season, Foltz listed making the final of a national age-group tournament as her biggest thrill in athletics. But after helping Golden West win the State volleyball title, she has a new accomplishment to consider. Foltz, an All-Southern Section player from Foothill High School, had 16 kills as Golden West beat Cerritos, 18-16, 15-12, 15-2, in the championship match. She had a team-high 15 kills earlier in the day when Golden West swept Cerritos, 15-6, 15-2, 18-16, in the winners’ bracket final. She also was selected to the all-tournament team.

Other notables:

* Sarah Works scored 20 points as Cypress beat Ventura, 54-51, in overtime in the title game of the Cypress tournament.
