The U.S. national soccer team recorded another easy victory Saturday night, beating the Norwegian club team, Kongsvinger, 2-1, before an announced crowd of 828 at Cal State Fullerton.
Hugo Perez began the scoring for the U.S. team by knocking in a long ball in the 25th minute on a wet and muddy field.
Cobi Jones scored the second U.S. goal in the 75th minute. Jones, alone with a Kongsvinger defender, faked left but went right. He pushed the ball to the left post, past the onrushing goalkeeper.
Kongsvinger scored in the 79th minute. Geir Frigard picked up a long pass and scored past keeper Brad Friedel, who played the second half in place of Tony Meola.
Frigard had a similar chance minutes later but Friedel charged and smothered the ball.
In an earlier game, Club Hallelujah of South Korea beat the L.A. Salsa, 2-0.
