IRVINE : King Symposium Jan. 12-14 at UCI

UC Irvine will stage its 10th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Symposium on the campus Jan. 12-14.
Student groups will launch the three-day celebration with tributes to the slain civil rights leader at noon Jan. 12 on the Student Center Terrace.
At 5 p.m. that day, the African American Student Union will sponsor the opening ceremony of the African Consciousness Quarter, and at 7 p.m. civil rights activist and film producer Judy Richardson will deliver the keynote address, “Will the Circle be Unbroken?”
On Jan. 13 at 10 a.m., a student panel will discuss “Moving From Desegregation to Integration,” and at 7 p.m., another forum will concern issues facing African Americans in Orange County.
On Jan. 14 there will be the traditional march from Irvine’s Mason Park to the UCI campus, starting with an assembly at the park at 10 a.m.
All events during the celebration are open to the public.
