TCI to Acquire Stake in British Firm: Flextech said it agreed to give Englewood, Colo.-based Tele-Communications Inc. a 60.4% stake valued at nearly $300 million in return for the European assets of a TCI programming unit. Following the transaction, which is subject to shareholder approval, Flextech will become one of Britain’s largest suppliers of cable and satellite programming, with an interest in five of the 12 channels that make up the basic multichannel subscription package of Britain’s only satellite TV broadcaster, BSkyB. TCI, the biggest cable operator in the United States, will hold the interest in Flextech through its United Artists unit.
