THOUSAND OAKS : Man Arrested in Rape, Battery of Party-Goer

A 25-year-old Simi Valley man was arrested early Saturday morning on suspicion of raping a woman who was walking home from a New Year’s Eve party, police said.
The woman was sexually assaulted shortly before 2 a.m. in a Simi Valley orange grove, police said. About 20 minutes later, Simi Valley police officers saw Jorge De La Cruz riding a bicycle a few miles from where the incident took place. He was booked into Ventura County Jail on suspicion of rape and sexual battery. He was being held Saturday on $20,000 bail.
A police spokesman could not say Saturday exactly where the rape occurred, nor did he know the age of the victim or what city she was from.
