Pasadena’s Musical Circus Is a Showcase for Kids

Parents who envision their child as a soloist performing with a renowned symphony may come closer to making that dream a reality by participating in Pasadena Symphony Assn.’s “Musical Circus” on Saturday.
The event gives children ages 4 to 10 a hands-on introduction to musical instruments--from the violin to drums--at Pasadena Civic Auditorium, 300 E. Green St.
Volunteers will demonstrate how to play the instruments and coach the children.
But the most inspirational part of the program is the Showcase of Talent. Three child musical prodigies--9-year-old Christina To; Rachel Kim, 10, and John Novacek, now 29, will perform.
A question-and-answer session will follow the program, emceed by USC announcer Bonnie Grice.
This is the third year the symphony has offered the “Musical Circus.” It will be held on the Saturday morning of each of its five concerts.
The next scheduled concerts are March 26 and April 30. Free. For information, call (818) 793-7172.
