SUNSET LEAGUE BOYS’ BASKETBALL : Servite Strong in Second Half, Defeats Edison

Servite rallied from a 36-33 halftime deficit and pulled away in the second half for a 77-68 victory against Edison in Sunset League boys’ basketball Friday night at Edison.
Kristian Vallas scored 16 points and had five assists for the Friars, and teammate Keiran Betts added 13.
Ben Beard scored 14 points, and Micah Kroeger added 11 for Edison. Servite improved to 12-6 and 5-2. Edison is 11-5 and 4-3.
In other Sunset League games:
Huntington Beach 67, Marina 44--Tony Gonzalez scored 19 points, and Matt Malmquist had 18 for first-place Huntington Beach (12-7, 6-1). Gonzalez, a senior forward, also added 14 rebounds. Andy Nieto scored 11 points for Marina (8-11, 2-5).
Fountain Valley 77, Santa Ana 66--Phil Domingo and Brandon Leimbach each scored 24 points for host Fountain Valley (12-5, 4-2). Randy Cruz scored 20 for Santa Ana (2-12, 1-6).
Ocean View 63, Westminster 52--Mike Carney scored 23 points, and Kevin Johnson added 18 to lead visiting Ocean View (10-9, 5-2).
