JEFFERSON PARK : Area Gearing Up for Parade and Festival

The Jefferson Park Improvement Project Inc. is sponsoring its sixth annual parade and festival Saturday.
The parade will begin at 10 a.m. at Crenshaw and Adams boulevards, proceed south on Crenshaw to Jefferson Boulevard, then east to Western Avenue. The parade will feature marching bands and drill teams from local schools as well as local politicians, including Councilman Mark Ridley-Thomas, state Sen. Diane Watson and County Supervisor Yvonne Brathwaite Burke. The ensuing community festival in Leslie Shaw Park will feature food, arts and crafts, bands, and performances by Holy Name, Trinity Baptist and other church choirs until 4 p.m.
The event, sponsored by the Jefferson Park Steering Committee, commemorates the 1988 christening of Jefferson Park by then-mayor Tom Bradley. The area is bounded by Adams Boulevard on the north, Exposition Boulevard on the south, Crenshaw Boulevard on the west and Western Avenue on the east.
