Rain Adds to Quake, Fire Victims’ Worries

A fast-moving storm system moved into Southern California Monday night, adding to the misery of earthquake victims and heightening flood worries in areas stripped of vegetation in the recent wildfires.
Snow and ice prompted the California Highway Patrol to close at least a 30-mile stretch of quake-battered Interstate 5, stranding motorists along the Grapevine.
Early evening rain was reported throughout the Los Angeles area.
The National Weather Service issued a flash flood watch at 3:30 p.m.
