Jamie Zitterkopf scored 20 points to help Southern California College to a 79-60 victory over Occidental in a nonconference women’s basketball game Tuesday at Occidental.
It was the 14th victory in 15 games for Southern California College (16-4), which had its 13-game winning streak stopped in a 62-50 loss to Fresno Pacific Saturday.
Sanja SimiDzija added 17 for Southern California.
In Golden State Athletic Conference women’s basketball:
Azusa Pacific 80, Concordia 77--Jessica Opfar made three free throws in the final six seconds for host Azusa Pacific (13-7, 2-2). Opfar went up for a shot with six seconds left and was fouled by Gitte Mejer. She made one of two free throws to give Azusa Pacific a 78-77 lead.
She then got a steal and was fouled again with three seconds left. She made both free throws to finish with 22 points.
Mejer, who fouled out when she fouled Opfar, had a game-high 31 points. She has scored 132 points in her last three games. Julie Workman added 21 for Concordia (10-8, 2-2).
In Golden State Athletic Conference men’s basketball:
Azusa Pacific 97, Concordia 71--Raymond Tuh had 28 points, making 11 of 14 shots from the field, for host Azusa Pacific (19-2, 4-0), the ninth-ranked team in the NAIA national poll. Craig Martin had 19 for Concordia (13-7, 2-2).
In nonconference men’s basketball:
Pacific Christian 106, California Christian 76--Charles Ross scored a game-high 35 points, Chuck Henderson added 17, Ruxton Schmietenknop had 15 and Eric Bajus finished with 14 for Pacific Christian (12-13).
