A woman whose car plunged 250 feet down an embankment spent Wednesday night unconscious, but awoke Thursday morning, used her cellular phone to dial 911, and was rescued by a Fire Department helicopter crew.
“She didn’t know where she was,” said Fire Department spokesman Jim Wells. “We kept her on the line and asked her to tell us if she heard our sirens and that’s how we found her.”
The woman phoned for help about 7:50 a.m. and firefighters found her about half an hour later near Mulholland Drive and Laurel Canyon Boulevard.
The victim, brought out of the heavily forested area on a litter, was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for treatment of neck and back injuries, Wells said.
