USC Manages to Stop Cal State Fullerton

LOS ANGELES — USC rallied for three runs in the fifth inning and held off Cal State Fullerton’s ninth-inning rally to win, 4-3, in a nonconference baseball game Friday at Dedeaux Field.
The Titans (40-12) scored a run in the ninth off Trojan starter Randy Flores (9-1), but USC reliever Grant Vermillion got the final two outs for his sixth save.
Designated-hitter Adam Millan led Fullerton with two hits and a run scored. Catcher Bret Hemphill also had two hits.
The Titans’ Dan Ricabal (8-1) gave up four runs, all earned, on six hits in 7 1/3 innings.
