Top-seeded Goran Ivanisevic survived a three-set battle with Canadian Greg Rusedski and won 5-7, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 in the third round of the $1 million Super Seiko tournament in Tokyo.
Sixth-seeded Michael Chang also won, beating Todd Woodbridge, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3. No. 3 Stefan Edberg beat 13th-seeded Mark Woodforde, 6-4, 6-4 and fourth-seeded Todd Martin also advanced, beating fellow American Aaron Krickstein, 7-6 (7-0), 0-6, 6-4.
