National Education Reports $1.7-Million 3rd Quarter Profit

National Education Corp., an Irvine-based education and training company, posted third-quarter profit of $1.7 million, or 6 cents a share. That contrasts with a net loss of $3.8 million, or 13 cents a share, for the same period in 1993, which included a loss from discontinued operations of $16.7 million. Revenue from continuing operations totaled $63.3 million, compared to revenue of $55.2 million for the like 1993 period. For the first three quarters of 1994, the company recorded a net loss of $47.6 million, or $1.61 a share, which included a loss from discontinued operations of $49.5 million. That compares with a net loss of $11.7 million, or 39 cents a share, for the corresponding nine months of 1993. Revenue rose to $171.1 million from $158.2 million.
