NuOasis Unit Files for Bankruptcy Protection

NuOasis Gaming Inc., an Orange County company that owns five bingo operations in Louisiana, said its BA-MAK Gaming International subsidiary there has filed for bankruptcy protection.
The announcement that BA-MAK has filed in New Orleans under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code followed the parent company’s previous disclosure that the division’s president had resigned, its corporate secretary had been dismissed, and that lawsuits had been filed against both.
NuOasis, based in Irvine, said it plans to reorganize New Orleans-based BA-MAK and settle with its principal creditor and equipment supplier, neither of which it would identify.
NuOasis was formerly E.N. Phillips Co. The company changed its name earlier this month and said it plans to develop casino properties.
