Sheriff’s deputies are searching for a man who kidnaped and raped a 12-year-old girl in east Valinda.
The girl, whose name was not released, was walking to school early Thursday on Azusa Avenue near Glenloch Avenue when a man asked her for the time, Sheriff’s Lt. John Clark said. The girl tried to walk away, but the man had a gun and told the girl he only wanted to take pictures of her. He dragged her by the arm to a pickup truck and drove the girl to McLaren Street in Valinda, where he raped her and then drove about a mile and released her, Clark said.
The suspect was described as a Latino in his 30s, about 5-foot-5 and 140 to 150 pounds, with brown eyes, short, wavy black hair and a thick mustache. He was wearing maroon sweat pants and drove a light blue GMC pickup with gray interior and gray lettering on the tailgate.
