LANCASTER — A motorcyclist was killed when he collided with a station wagon that ran a red light Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.
The 40-year-old Lancaster man was riding south on Challenger Way about 3 p.m. As he crossed Avenue L, he struck a station wagon driven by Bryan VanBlarcom, 26, also of Lancaster, who witnesses said ran the signal, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Joe Gutierrez.
The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene. VanBlarcom and his passenger received minor injuries and were treated and released from a local hospital, according to Gutierrez.
VanBlarcom was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and being held at the Antelope Valley Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.
