Qualls Shows Kilpatrick How to Finish

PASADENA — Mario Qualls rushed for 115 yards in 21 carries and scored four touchdowns as Kilpatrick closed Alpha League play with a 42-12 victory over Marshall Fundamental.

Kilpatrick (8-2, 4-1) clinched second place and gained a berth in next week’s Southern Section Division X playoffs.

Kilpatrick led, 13-6, at the half, but Qualls added touchdown runs of two, four and eight yards to put the game out of reach.

Qualls had a two-yard scoring run in the first quarter to tie the score, 6-6.

Cesar Cuevas connected with Sam Nomaaea on a 30-yard touchdown pass play in the third quarter. Cuevas and Wardell Joe platooned at quarterback and combined for 97 yards passing.
