OUTLOOK
Returning all five starters from last year’s second-place squad has Raya thinking league title. The Golden Hawks should be stronger at every position. They return two all-league senior forwards in Renken and de Bruijn. Renken averaged 13 points and 14 rebounds and de Bruijn averaged 13 points and 12 boards. Jamie Nebeker returns after a freshman year that saw her average 10 points and earn all-league honors. She will be joined by Korsmeier and Bryant, all-league honorable mention guards last year, in the backcourt. Raya also returns three-year letterman Shannon Nebeker and Gibney, who, along with Reott, gives the Golden Hawks one of the deepest backcourts in the league. Team quickness and experience should allow the Golden Hawks to run their fast break offense. Raya says this team has more talent than the ’93 league champions who were 25-3 and advanced to the playoff semifinals.
