PASADENA : City Fire Chief Pekerol Suspended With Pay

Pasadena Fire Chief Kaya Pekerol, who was appointed in 1981, has been suspended with pay by City Manager Philip A. Hawkey.
City spokeswoman Ann Erdman announced the suspension Tuesday but declined to give details because it is a personnel matter. Hawkey is to meet Tuesday with Pekerol to determine whether further action will be taken, Erdman said.
Pekerol was the target of criticism this year when his department was cited by state safety officials for failing to provide firefighters with protective shields, among other things.
