I totally agree with your praise for the Mountains Conservancy Foundation’s efforts to build and complete the Backbone Trail in the Santa Monica Mountains (“Happy Trail,” editorial, Nov. 9).
In addition, much credit for the existence of this trail should be given to trail-builder and planner Ron Webster, who, with the aid of Sierra Club volunteers, the Los Angeles Conservation Corps and the California Conservation Corps, continues to build and maintain this and other trails in the Santa Monica Mountains.
I understand this can be dirty, back-breaking but very rewarding work. After all, as the saying goes, “if you build it they will come.”
