SANTA ANA — CDB Infotek, a privately held information services company in Santa Ana, has agreed to acquire Simon & Schuster’s Prentice Hall Online and Charles E. Simon Co. units, officials for the companies said Monday.
The businesses were put up for sale in April after Simon & Schuster decided to focus on consumer, education, reference and international publishing as its core operations. Terms of the sales were not disclosed.
CDB Infotek, with 120 employees in Orange County, provides on-line public records information services to the legal, insurance, corporate and investigative industries. The acquisitions will add about 80 workers in Southern California and increase annual revenue by 35%, said Rick Rozar, president of the company.
“This allows up to penetrate markets we haven’t been in,” Rozar said, “such as the financial institutions.”
Prentice Hall Online, which specializes in court and tax lien records, is based in Irvine. Charles E. Simon Co., which specializes in information from government records and Securities and Exchange Commission filings, is based in Washington.
