DESPERATE WOMEN NEED TO TALK TO YOU by Joan Frank (Conari Press: $9.95; 146 pp., paperback original). In this collection of columns from various periodicals, Joan Frank bemoans the daily life of an aging Baby-Boomer in New York: the search for romance, questioning goals, the death of parents, the biological timepiece, etc. Her “Girlfriend, I just can’t cope” tone is often amusing, but many other writers are working the same turf these days, and she offers little that’s new or insightful.
