OUTLOOK
Flint, who hasn’t had a team qualify for the playoffs in five years at Corona del Mar, says this team has a good shot at third place and a playoff spot. “Athletically, this is my best team top to bottom,” he said. “We’re very, very fast.” Warmington set a school record with 45 three-pointers last season, and averaged 9.6 points. Flint said he expects Macfarland, who averaged 3.4 points last season, to at least double her output. “She’s really come around this year,” he said. “(Last year) she didn’t take advantage of her height. She never realized that if she wants to, she can dominate.” Gardner has the best moves in the low post. Flint said Casey is now “physically mature” and should also score more. Flint said he expects fierce competition for the No. 3 playoff spot. “It would be wonderful to get into (the playoffs),” he said. “That No. 3 spot is going to be tough, with teams like El Toro and Santa Margarita coming on.”
