Lockheed Missile Unit Layoffs Set: The aerospace giant said it will furlough 800 workers in Sunnyvale by June and that 800 more may be laid off by the end of the year. The 14,630-worker Lockheed Missiles & Space Co. has been laying off about 3,000 employees a year for the last three years. Spokesman Jim Graham said the layoffs are not in response to either Lockheed’s proposed merger with Martin-Marietta, which shareholders are scheduled to vote on next month, or problems with any of specific line.
