1994-95 ALL-VALLEY GIRLS : Basketball Team

ANNA CELAYA

North Hollywood, 5-4, Senior, Guard

Celaya, a repeat selection, led area City Section players in scoring, averaging almost 24 points a game and leading the Huskies to the Mid-Valley league title and the second round of the City Section 4-A playoffs. She was an All-Valley selection by The Times in 1994.

LA CRESHA CLARK

Hart, 5-4, Senior, Guard

Clark, one of the top shooting guards in the area, averaged 15.7 points a game for the Indians and was the Foothill League Player of the Year. She led the league in scoring and steals with 4.9.

MAGGIE DIXON

Notre Dame, 6-1, Senior, Guard

One of the best all-around players in the Mission League, she helped the Knights to one of their best seasons, and they reached the Southern Section III-A semifinals. She averaged 15 points and 11 rebounds a game. Dixon was a first-team Mission League pick.

CARLY FUNICELLO

Alemany, 6-4, Junior, Center

Funicello is on pace to be one of the top recruits in the state next season. She added a mid-range jump shot to her post position abilities and cut down on her fouls on defense while averaging 2.5 blocks a game.

MICHELLE GRECO

Crescenta Valley, 5-10, Freshman, Guard/Forward

Greco can do a little bit of everything for the Falcons, who finished second in the Pacific League. Playing point guard and forward, she averaged 19 points and 11 rebounds while shooting 64% from the floor.

LINDY JAMES

Village Christian, 5-10, Junior, Forward

James’ numbers and ability put her at a higher level. She averaged 20 points, 9.5 rebounds, seven assists and 2.5 blocks a game for the Alpha League champions. James was named league player of the year twice and is a three-time all-Valley selection.

KELLY MCKAY

Alemany, 5-10, Senior, Guard

Alemany opponents may focus on stopping Carly Funicello and Samantha Rigley but it was McKay who was voted Mission League Player of the Year. A repeat All-Valley selection, she averaged 12.5 points, and is one of the best defensive players in the area.

NYOKI MCKEITH

Taft, 5-6, Junior, Guard

McKeith was a big reason the Toreadors were the top team in the Northwest Valley Conference and advanced to the second round of the City Section 4-A playoffs. She averaged 15 points, six assists and more than five steals a game, earning All-City 4-A first team honors.

SAMANTHA RIGLEY

Alemany, 5-10, Senior, Forward

Valley Player of the Year in 1994, Rigley had another solid season with the Indians. She began the season at point guard but moved back to her natural forward position, averaging 11.6 points and three assists a game. She has signed with Pepperdine.

KRISTI ROSE

Palmdale, 6-4, Junior, Center

One of the most improved players in the Antelope Valley, Rose was an intimidating presence in the middle, leading the Falcons to a Golden League championship and the quarterfinals of the Southern Section Division I-A playoffs. The league player of the year, she averaged 15.0 points and 10.4 rebounds.
