The Panorama City West Neighborhood Assn. is sponsoring the first of a planned series of monthly meetings designed to spur cooperation among local merchants, community groups, residents and government.
The first Business/Neighborhood Partnership meeting is scheduled for 8 a.m. June 22 at Panorama Mall.
The meetings, open to the public, will serve as a forum for merchants, homeowners and residents to collect information on government programs, resources and nonprofit services available to them, said Leslie Yamashita, director of the association.
“We want this to be a beginning, an introductory meeting,” Yamashita said. Among those invited to the meeting are representatives of Los Angeles City Council members Richard Alarcon and Joel Wachs, a representative from Mayor Richard Riordan’s office, officials from the Mid Valley Chamber of Commerce, Business Watch, the Valley Economic Development Corp. and the city’s Community Redevelopment Agency.
“The push is, we want to support our businesses, and we want them to support the community as well,” Yamashita said.
