Emergency Room Nurse Honored

Who: Teresa Cesiro

Contribution: Cesiro was named Orange County’s Emergency Room Nurse of the Year. She will be the featured speaker June 19 at the Orange County Council of Hospital Volunteers.

The quarterly meeting will be at the Orange County Medical Assn. building, 300 S. Flower St., Orange.

An informal discussion on volunteer programs, how to join and what the council entails will be at 9 a.m. The council’s general meeting will begin at 10:15 a.m.

Attorneys Who Guided Parolees

Who: Bahram (Bob) Mouzoon and Lisa Kopelman

Contribution: They received the Outstanding Attorney Award for their roles in Volunteers in Parole of Orange County, a nonprofit group that matches parolees with lawyers who serve as role models.

Attorney Lisa McMains and parolee Jennifer Gregor were honored as the match of the year, and VIP advisory board member William R. Jackson was recognized for more than 20 years of volunteer service.

Students to Serve in Reading Program

The Cypress Library, 5331 Orange Ave., is seeking high school juniors and seniors to help in the library’s summer reading program. Those volunteering will work with children and also will do simple clerical tasks, artwork and crafts.

Applicants must be at least 13. Application forms are available at the library.

LA PALMA

Breakfast, Shirts for Walk/Run Helpers

The Recreation & Community Services Department is seeking volunteers to work at the city’s annual 5- and 10-K run and walk July 4. The event, expected to draw 1,200 runners and walkers, requires more than 150 volunteers.

Those who volunteer will receive a commemorative T-shirt and a free pancake breakfast on the morning of the run.

Got Wheels? Help Deliver Some Meals

The Stanton Community Services Department and Senior Meals and Services Inc. need volunteers to deliver hot meals at lunchtime to homebound senior citizens. Volunteers are needed immediately to fill openings Monday through Thursday. Mileage reimbursements are available.
