Grants Help Meet Health Needs

A Camarillo foundation that provides grants and scholarships to organizations and students involved in health-care programs gave out 17 awards totaling $53,500 this month.
The Swift Foundation evaluates health-care needs in the community and twice a year provides grants and scholarships to help meet those needs.
Oxnard College students Shawn Brennan and Griselda Simental received scholarships of $1,000 each to help finance their education in the medical field. Ventura College students Susan Kay Green and Elizabeth Logan also were awarded $1,000 scholarships.
Caregivers was awarded $4,500 for continued support of its Santa Paula/Fillmore program director.
Catholic Charities received $4,000 for expansion of the volunteer coordinator position, and $5,000 was granted to Child Abuse and Neglect for its counseling program.
An award of $5,500 was given to the Easter Seals Society to help fund a new roof for one of its county facilities.
Hope for Kids Inc. received $3,000 for its Parenting Skills Training Program, and Khepera Recovery was granted $5,000 to help pay for a counselor.
Miracle Recovery Centers was awarded $4,000 for a relapse-prevention specialist, and PDAP of Ventura County was granted $4,000 to increase its counselor time.
An award of $6,000 was given to Primary Purpose for relocation and conversion expenses to meet licensing requirements.
Rainbow Recovery Centers was awarded $4,000 to assist with building repairs in Simi Valley and Oxnard.
Retinitis Pigmentosa International received $2,000 for psychotherapeutic support groups and transportation services.
The Salvation Army was awarded $2,500 for free health-screening costs, and Turning Point Foundation was granted $4,000 to operate a homeless shelter.
