Envoy Treated for Cancer

CLEVELAND — Former Mayor Carl B. Stokes, the U.S. ambassador to the Seychelles, is being treated for cancer. Stokes, 68, said he is getting radiation and chemotherapy treatments at Cleveland Clinic Hospital in preparation for surgical removal of a tumor in his esophagus. He made the disclosure in the Plain Dealer newspaper Thursday.
