2 Nazi Victims Pronounced Martyrs by the Vatican

VATICAN CITY — Two Roman Catholic priests who died as victims of the Nazis, an Austrian and a German, were pronounced martyrs Friday, setting them on the road to eventual sainthood.
A Vatican statement said the two were among 12 Catholics of various nationalities and from different periods who had either miracles, martyrdom or “heroic virtues” attributed to them by the department that scrutinizes candidates for sainthood.
It named the martyrs as Father Otto Neururer, an Austrian, and Father Karl Leisner, a German.
