Flatten That Tax:
With Republican presidential candidate Steve Forbes roaming the campaign trail, there will be no shortage of things to talk about at this confab. California Controller Kathleen Connell will host a tax reform conference Wednesday to examine the impact of various federal tax reform proposals--particularly a flat tax--on the state. “We are trying to take a leadership role, to arm ourselves with information, so that we would understand the impact that a flat tax would have, before any sort of change occurs,” Connell said. “This issue is just too critical for us to sit back and wait to see what happens.” The conference will be held from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at UCLA’s Anderson School of Management, Korn Convocation Hall. The fee is $50. For reservations, call Emily Turner at (916) 324-0812.
