Los Alamitos was trailing Mission Viejo, 1-0, in the second half of the Division I title game when Andrea Sievers made a long run and a perfect crossing pass to Shinen, who was set up at the far post and volleyed it in. It was the game’s final goal and because of the tie the teams were named co-champions. Shinen also had an assist and scored the tying goal with three minutes left in the Griffins’ 3-2 semifinal victory over Torrance.
