SANTA ANA — The Orange County district attorney’s office said Tuesday that it settled a lawsuit brought against the landowner of an Anaheim service station that allegedly violated underground storage tank laws, leading to environmental contamination.
Under the settlement, J.E. Dewitt Inc. of Santa Ana agreed to clean up the contamination at the gas station, 984 S. Beach Blvd. The clean-up will likely cost at least $250,000, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Valerie A. Griswold.
Dewitt, without admitting any wrongdoing, also agreed to pay civil penalties and investigation costs totaling $70,000.
Dewitt executives and a lawyer for the company were not available for comment.
